The brake lines arrived today for the F100, So hopefully I have everything I need to do a complete brake job and replace the lines this weekend.
Battle plan is to start with on back brake, take it apart, clean and paint the backing plate, do a front brake while the paint dries. Reassemble and do the same to the other side.
YAY it's Friday!!
I have never been so glad for the weeknd to almost be here. I have to remember to bring home some tools so I can work of the 79. I have a small tool box at home to do minor stuff but a majority of my tools are at work.
Heading out to start on the new brakes, hope it does not turn out to be very aggravating.
My application back at my old job is under review, I talked to my old boss and he recommended me as absolutely and forwarded it to his boss. With my old boss pushing it forward I am not worried about it. I have to bring the motorhome back to the house and then one day move my big *** tool box back to Austell. None of my old working buddies know I am trying to come back. Two of the guys will be real glad to see me a third one will call me an idiot but will be glad to see me too but we are good friends so no worries. ,
Ran into a few small issues
1. It keeps raining
2. They sent me 2 right front calipers, It had a left front part number on the box but it's a right front caliper.
3. I forgot to order the rubber lines for the brake system.
Made the right decision on a new master cylinder and all new metal lines. The master cylinder was leaking out of the back seal. Also the front brake line coming off the master cylinder snapped in half as soon as I turned the nut 1/4 a turn. The rubber line on the right front caliper is looking pretty rough so I went a head and ordered all new rubber lines, I was meaning too but forgot. The entire brake system will be new from the master cylinder to the brakes except for the proportioning valve. It seems to be good so I won't mess with it right now. I can order one for $65 bucks if it turns out to be bad.
The drivers side outer bearing on the rotor was loose, had metal flakes in the grease and was about to fail so it was good I was already replacing the rotors and bearings. One nut on the old center link did not have a cotter pin, it was not loose thank goodness. I am going to go thru the whole truck and make sure it is safe before I really start driving it. The king pins are tight so not going to mess with them right now other than give them a good greasing.
So far I have both new front rotors installed, The right front has the caliper and brakes mounted but waiting on the rubber line. The left front has the rotor installed but waiting on the correct caliper. The new center link and tie rod ends are installed. I have the new master cylinder mounted. I was under the truck getting ready to work on the hard lines for the front when it started to rain. I knew this would turn into a multi day or maybe even a multi weekend project.
got this harley oil bag body worked and primed. Got my passanger door for the f100 finally stripped, lined on the inside and primed on the outside. Hood and drivers door next.
Have a side job tomorrow morning, mow my land, then come home and maybe continue on the hood and door. They are nearly done, but my fiance in quarantine for another 2 weeks, so I have everyday till next thursday to get a good amount of **** done and side work handledd.
Didn't work on the truck today. Slept in and then I washed and waxed 2 of our vehicles, then I washed and waxed my bike. I ran to town and got 50 bags of red mulch and we did our flower beds in red mulch instead of pine straw, I still need about 20 more to bag or so to finish but a majority of it is done. So I did yard work mainly instead of working on the truck.
gla every one is busy on projects. My only project is "moneypit". We may have to go to fl next week instead of the first to pick up our son. When Debraand I got married, he could not afford the 2 bedroom apt he was in. There were no 1 bed rooms avaible. The office mgr find him a roommate but nrever put her on the lease. She has done some stuff that mangemment is not happy with. They told our son she had to go before or when he left. Well lastbweek she went to the office and went pschyo on the mgr in front of the oriental owner. He got pissed and wanted to kick our son out. He has to talk to mgr this week . He has giving his 30 day notice so the latest will be Dec 1.
So we are concertrating on the 2 back bedrooms. We have the ceilings painted and walls taped ready to sand. The free cabinets we got were mostly bases, we had enough to do what we needed they are set in place but not secured. We had 2 18" wall that we were not going to use. We putting them in the laundry room above the w/d. We pull wd out and laid the tile were they. Took the w/d off the drawer pedistals. Right now cabinets are sitting on top of w/d . Debra happy with more useable cabinets.
Hhunter, It's nice that you and the wifey still make room for the son and all, but between you and a tree stump, we both know he wants to be out on his own. You know he's probably still sowing Oats lol. Any ways tell him I said to look at RV's as they have some super nice one's in this day and time. https://www.alrvsales.com/ This is the sales people I like the best. Certain RVs even come with a lifetime warranty. If anything breaks, they will fix it, as long as you own the RV. In my book, no maintenance home is money in the bank.

I was going to do a youtube video on installing these side steps on Betty the Beast, but it's a witch with a capital B. Any who I did what I could yesterday and last night. Not much room to get a drill in there to drill the 2 horizontal holes. My cordless drill took a crap on me. I went to the shop and pulled a 3/8 electric drill out and run a drop cord. Apparently this drill must be one my father-inlaw picked up cheap as it has a slight woble while drilling. It's already messed up 2 of my titanium bits. The bits cost more than that stinking drill. I'll just get my air tools out today. The air drill is much smaller and cuts thru steel like butter.
I forgot what it felt like having metal shavings stuck in my arm. I had a spot bother me all night lol.
Adam actual he is not showing wild anything. He is 38 and made a vow with GOD along time ago. We know this is temp untill he gets in his feet up here. When Debra and I git married last year I offered to let him move up here. He decided to stay down there to let us start our life together. His sperm donor never encouraged or supported him. He had a job at Universal till the virus shut them down. He unemployment is running out. He needs to be up here to have a fresh start. One with encouragement and support .
On the lifetime warranty on rvs it a rip off. You must take it in for all service because ALL service must be done by certified rv tech. Service is not covered. At Campers Inn in Bryon labour is 159/hour. To repack wheel bearings is around 200
Took a chance and rode the bike to work today, I have only ridden it one other time this year and the rain chances are going up after today so it was today or wait again for a while.
The theme parks have really taken a beating this year. Closed for months and now limited capacity and who knows what else is coming. Most people don't want to visit the parks and wear a mask in the heat, I know I don't
I believe the Simba lot is at Downtown Disney in California, Disney Springs Orlando has lime, orange and lemon parking lots.
Depending on what goes on with this covid stuff we are thinking of doing a long weekend in the spring, No RV just a quick visit down to Universal and Volcano Bay.
Blessed to have the money to do things I never got to do when growing up. I love to see the excitement in little mans face when we go on vacation, he makes it so much fun. He was walking around the house last night with a Mickey ear hat on saying he wanted to go to Disney. I grew up in central Florida so I love the area, nothing better than a light summer breeze thru the palm trees. No solid plans on any kind of vacation right now, kinda waiting it out to see how the COVID plays out. We do want to do something before little man starts school.
The rubber brake lines for the 79 are supposed to be delivered today, the correct left side caliper next week. I have all the old brake and steering parts loaded in the SUV to put them in scrap metal bin at work. I got a surprise inspection from my corp boss yesterday and I got a good score.
