Can anyone tell me the difference between the 5r110 behind a 6.0 vs a 5r110 behind a 5.4? I am looking into swapping my 5.4 for a Cummins 12v and want to keep my 5r110 but there are no aftermarket transmission controllers/ tuners. Is it possible to swap some components to make my gasser 5.4 into a Diesel 5r110 trans? Thanks for the help.
Thank you for the input Mark, so in theory I should be able to swap my Cummins keep my trans and get the "diesel" trans tuner to run my trans? DCS did not seem sure that it was possible. Thank you again. Just want to get my build as planned out as possible before I start spending money.
What part of the control systems are identical is not clear? The solenoids are exactly the same. There are no "diesel" solenoids and no "gas" solenoids.
There are two differences between a 5.4L trans and a 6.0L trans. The torque converter has a different stall speed, and one of the clutches has one less plate. The trans doesn't know if the engine burns gas or diesel.
