OT, but it is ford truck related

Hey all! I know this is not the forum for these years, but I trust the expertise of the members here. During a storm last night a rather large oak tree took out my '83 F250 4X4 that I keep in the river bottoms to haul firewood. Yeah, I know, it got loaded.
My question would be, I have a '94 F250 with a perfect cab and front cap. Will the OBS cab bolt on the '83 frame? Both trucks are IDI diesel. The '83 is a 4 speed and the OBS is auto. Not sure if the pedal assy. will swap if the cabs will.

Although the frame looks bent, it was the rusty cab that gave instead.

Man... sorry about your luck! I can't say for certain, but I think 1980-1996 were basically the same block-y trucks, and the big redesign to the smooth lozenge style was in 1997. I'd be surprised if you could do a bolt-by-bolt swap of the 94 front end and cab onto the 83 considering how brackets and minor changes get moved around with every refresh (at least one-two in that time frame). But it may not be too bad if you're willing to do some cutting and welding. If it were me, I'd just try to buff that out though...

Just curious, since this is an old wood wagon, are you going to try to bend the bed back into a functional, if crumpled box? Or go with a flatbed?

If I go with the '94 cab I'll build a flatbed for it. I looked closer at an ol '86 F250 IDI I've got, besides the rear cab corners being rusty it is amazingly straight and has a useable bed.
One good point for the '94 is it has great air conditioning, although I guess I could swap needed parts onto the '86 cab.
I'll have plenty of time to make decisions because it'll be late July to mid August before I can get it out of here.

While they may look the same I know a lot of changes were made over the years. I don't know for sure about cab mounts at the frame, but I'm pretty sure there's several interior and firewall changes, and I know for a fact the front frame is different and the nose and core support will not retrofit. We ran into that back in the day when the styling changed in 92 and guys wanted their old trucks to look newer. No can do without seriously major surgery. My 85 was extremely more simple under the dash than my current 97. You might check with a wrecking yard and ask if they'll check the Hollander book for cab interchange with your 83.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for, someone that has actually been there. So I guess I'll just drop the '86 cab and bed on. Might be a good time to drop the later 7.3 IDI in there at the same time.

Insured? Or was it for off street use to haul wood only?

Insured 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks Abe, I needed that laugh! The truck does have current plates on it because they are permanent, but it is an ol woods truck that I never intended to leave the river bottoms again.
I'll have to take it to one of my former customer's shop to swap the body, but the river is gonna have to fall to normal level for a while. It's raining and severe storms again tonight, so.......

I like the looks of what you had going. Those tires look super swampers. Now days I laugh when I see lifted 4WD trucks running around with the biggest rims they can fit and super low profile street tires.
I always think you can't go in the woods with that.
