1956 hood question

Today’s project is the hood that I got from out of state, I noticed that on the rear rib that crosses over that the sheet metal basically loose on it, found a piece of tar paper between them I guess to stop it from rattling, I was thinking about getting an automotive epoxy for body panels to give it some rigidity does that sound right? Also the f100 emblems for a 56 do they use push in pins besides the two nuts or do I need to open up the two smaller holes ? Thanks for all of your help, Pete

Not all 56 hoods had those rivets Ted, every one I have were spot welded to the hood skin but the 53 hood I used on my pickup does have the rivets..

There are no rivers anywhere on the hood, like I said I have no idea what year truck it came off of, I know on my early mustangs they have some type of bonding materials to join them
together

It is a 56 hood that you have, only year with that type of side emblem and to answer your question there is 3 push pins and 2 bolts that hold the emblem and all part of the emblem casting..

Ok I thought all 56 hoods had the rivets and was thinking someone may have ground them off not understanding why they were there . The panel adhesive is not designed to fill large gaps but otherwise would work if you can get it cleaned to bare metal in between but any non shrinking seam sealer should work well . Fusor ( and I'm sure others) makes an expanding rigid foam that is used between door skins and crash bars and similar places in newer cars . It is designed to expand into spaces but stops when it comes into contact with anything so it won't put pressure on the outer skin .
