Gathering materials for Excursion Paint job and ?'s
I have a two-tone Eddie Bauer trim Excursion, looks like main body is G2, M7089A Redfire Metallic and trim panels are M7020A, M7026A, TK Mineral Gray Metallic. See below for an example
My questions:
1. Should i buy ready to shoot paint from a website? Or go to a local place to have them mix it?
2. Both are metallic paints. Would I be better to shoot these through the 1.8 or 1.3 gun? I assume the 1.8 but should I look for a another needle size?
3. The trim is plastic, do I need to get a specific type of paint for that?
4. I have a couple of areas that were rock chips or need surface rust repair. What primer would you recommend? Just buy from the same website as the base/clear or buy local too?
Thanks!

First off, there is no such thing...all paints require a catylist that must be mixed and sprayed in a specific time frame. They my be selling a pre-thinned paint but that it's no more, no less. IMHO, best to buy local for several reasons....1) you will get the proper reducer for your specific environmental requirements (temp, humidity, etc.), 2) you are getting the best line of paint for the $ and 3) you are buying from people who know the specific products in your area and know how to address the moisture, etc impactors to ensure a successful application

The paint MFG will have the specifics in their data sheets of what to use (because of flake composition/diameter, etc.)

Paint is a chemistry class today...mixing brands or even specific product lines is NOT a GOOD THING and typically comes back to bite you....pick a mfg and stick with their recommendations
