hi, so some lady smacked me in the rear and had to get my hatch fixed and repainted well now i have a beatiful paint job on the hatch and dull and sunkissed paint, with cracked trim tape. mines a two-tone and i was just wondering about prices, i know i could go ask at the shop but id rather get an idea from others before i try and fit it in to my schedule.oh and i dont have any rust or dents to be fixed
I had mine repainted (no dents/rust either) at Maaco for $285. That was for a base coat/ clear coat and it looks great! In fact we have been at lights and had people ask to buy the Baby Bronco but she isn't for sale! I will add this too, the guy at Maaco who origannly gave me the estimate is the owner and he stood by his price but the guys that work there said normally it would have been a $800+ paint job. I only had them paint the green above the tan lower section too and that saved a lot of money. The tan at the bottom was in great shape anyhow so didn't need anything.
Go to WalMart, spend $20 and buy a buffer. It doesn't work the best but if you go to a paint supply store and get a good cutting compound and then a good glaze to hand rub on after, you will be surprised at how well the old faded paint will look. The stuff I have used with my $20 buffer is called Race Glaze. Get the polish and the compound by the same company though as everyone used different additives and you don't want the wax to yellow on you.
Other than that, take the advice and call Maaco. They have a bad rep for cheap paint jobs, but they are a school and will stand by the work. Ask to see pictures of paint jobs performed and keep it simple. Don't ask students to do a two tone and expect it to be show quality.
