well folks, thanks to some rust on the top of my cab and stainless steel rocker trim that took some paint off when removed it is now time for a fresh paint job on my 2000 f250. I'm not looking to spend a whole lot between 600 and 800 bucks on a paint job as I'm only going to have the truck for a few more years. My question to everybody is weather you have any expierience with Earl Scheibe or MAACO and if you would recommend them. Or if there is anybody from Oregon if there is a good paint shop with reasonable prices.
You get what you pay for. You are talking about not only a paint job, but also body work (rust and missing paint). When I painted mine I had about 600 in materials alone. If you find someone to paint it for anywhere 6-800 you should RUN FAST!!. I wont touch a car for that (especially since materials would be about that)
I have personally never used either, but I imagine you get what you pay for. I have seen vehicles painted by Macco in the past, I would say if you do all the prep work it would be ok. I have seen them get over spray on everything from windshields to exhaust tips. Good luck
I'm really trying to weigh my options here, the truth of the matter is i only can afford about 800 bucks. I may just have the spots that are rusted and dented spot painted, line-x my messed up rockers and buff and polish the old paint job.

An $800 paint job will mess it up worse.
Look, if the rust isn't structural, just live with it for now and start saving some money for a real paint job.

I can understand your need to save some scratch. I live in that mode all the time.
What I would suggest looking into is a trade school in your area. You may be able to get them paint it, although you are on the edge of what some consider too old for school. I am having my roof stripped and re-painted in the fall due to the PO having a light bar up there, drilling an obscene number of holes and doing a REALLY crappy patching job. It's going to cost me about $100 for the job.
If you want to keep the costs low, I would suggest you just have the problem areas painted. Just to keep the rust away, and make it look acceptable at resale time.
If you plan on being buried in your truck like me, I'd save for however long it took to pay for a quality paint job. You're off to a great start with $800, just keep saving your pennies and your dimes. In the meantime, get a few estimates to know what you're up against.
