Hi all, I have an early 99 powerstroke super cab short bed 4x4 that I rolled. The engine, trans, and running gear are fine but literally every body panel on the truck is toast, especially the cab. How involved would it be to put an obs single cab and a long bed on my frame be? I'm a welder and can probably gain access to a lift, I'm just wondering if this process has been done, if it will even be close to fitting, and/or even worth doing. Thank you for any and all input and info.
Could it be done? Well I guess. The far simpler thing would be find a 1999 thru 2007 cab.
I realize that, but I could get an obs truck for cheaper than a super duty. Otherwise I'd do that, I'm just wondering if its worth the hassle to save some money or not.
You have to consider everything that, not just the cab to frame mounts. Things like pass through for the wiring harness, heater core, PCM mounting, steering linkage, everything... In my humble opinion if you want an older cab, you should go with a Highboy body conversion, or maybe a 1960's cab conversion or just go with a 99-07 cab and call it done. Just because you can get something cheap does not mean it is the right call.
