I've started travelling to OKC for work somewhat regularly and I'd like to know if anyone has any "hidden gems" for restaurants that I should try out. I'm Canadian, so anything local or regional is interesting to me.
Son, lemme tell you sumpin, Jimmy's round-up cafe and fried pies is the place to go for chicken fried steak and "hand peenched yeast dinner rolls". I love this place. The owner is pure country and all the food is made from scratch. Actually, the green beans and whatnot might not be, I don't know what a vegetable is, but the chicken fried steak and rolls will make you slap yo' mama they're so good.
One caveat, it's in mexican town so go during the daytime when it's more "professional".
Here are some of my favs in OKC.... If you need spots in Tulsa, let me know....
Earles BBQ
Chelinos Mexican Restaurant - Modelo pairs with every dish...
Cattleman’s Steakhouse
Eischen’s Bar - Haven’t been yet, but supposed to be the best fried chicken....

I need to arrange my trip to stay a few nights and not be in such a rush. Actually went this week, but barely had time to sleep, let alone eat anywhere interesting. Landed Monday around 9PM and was back at the airport 4PM Tuesday.
One year I'll get down for a football trip, watch some high school on friday and one of the colleges on Saturday. One of my co-workers is from OSU so I assume that's where I'd go.
When all this CoViD nonsense is over, give these a try:
Nick's Grill on Pennsylvania (get there before 11 am.)
Ann's Chicken Fry on 39th (cash only)
The Press just off 16th st.
The Mule on 16th st.
Bedlam BBQ on Lincoln
