Greetings fellow Fordians!...I have a 79 LN800 dump truck with an Eaton 17220 differential, P/N 100302, 18500 lb. capacity, air brakes, 2 speed. Last Friday I was coming out of the local quarry with a load of pit run when the axle housing gave up the ghost and split open near the drivers side spring mount. After 40 years of loyal service I guess the stress finally got to the old girl! She's still a good truck and I'd like to find an organ donor and perform a rearectomy! So far, I have only been able to locate a possible donor in Iowa and I'm in Idaho (same letter, different time zone!) If anyone has a lead or suggestion on a possible western donor, I would be most grateful!

D7HZ-4010-B .. Eaton model 17221 Two Speed Axle Housing - Marked: 100302 / Obsolete
1977 B/C/F/L/LN700/900 from serial number O65001; ditto 1978/83.
No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any, none on ebay.
There's a truck wrecking yard in Los Angeles that may have one: SoCal Truck Wrecking: 213-587-3144, ask for Marty.
Note: It's an Eaton model 17221. There is no Eaton 17220 listed for a Ford truck of this vintage. See pic of application chart:
Thanks Bill....I will check with Marty. I have located a possible housing donor in South Dakota but until I can check the axles and diff gears I won't know the true damage? And right now there is about 4 inches of snow on the ranch and no room in the barn to work on the old girl! Way too early for winter!

The last time it snowed in the Los Angeles basin was September 1949!
