its in a f550 bucket truck , has two symptoms, when warm, this truck will stall in reverse, and stall in gear when idling and foot on brake pedal. not so bad when cold. Been examining potential solutions, and already swapped a brand new solenoid shift pack and trans harness,
What gear would this truck be in at 35 mph, just revs up to 3000 rpm, just wont shift into next gear.
Im thinking it could be the 3 to 4th shift valve bent . Im aware of the Ford service bulletin about synthetic ATF , although this is in Florida .
About to order a sonnax lube to line valve for the pump as I understand this is a common concern.
Thanks for the assistance, Ronjon

And as you found out neither of those would cause stalling. Usually stalling is due to low trans pressure. This can be caused by low trans fluid, loose/missing internal filter, worn seals, or a worn pump.

It should be in fourth gear, but it obviously is not.

How in the world could a shift valve bend? I can't imagine a way that could happen. I could see a bit of debris get into the bore and stick the shift valve.
While you have the valve body out checking the 3-4 bore, check the feedbolts. They can loosen and cause odd symptoms like this. The feedbolts are in the case and will be exposed when the valve body is removed.
IF they are tight and the shift valve is not stuck then your issue is most likely a failed overdrive clutch.
