Transmission replaced last summer: slow transmission fluid seep and rough shifts
My automatic transmission died last year during the busy part of the summer. I had a local shop swap in a generic unit that came from O'Reillys. Shifts have been a little "rougher" than I recall in the original transmission. By "rougher" I mean there is no unexpected noise, but there is a bit more of a surge when going into the next gear. It also is seeping transmission fluid. I've put 12,000 miles on the new unit. Thoughts on this? Is it a time bomb? Thanks in advance...

Shifting firmer doesn't mean the trans is on it's way out. It could mean that during the rebuild a shift kit was installed, which will make the trans shift firmer.
Does the OD OFF light flash? Have you checked for stored codes?
Been a while since I've looked in the valley. I just checked. It is dirty, but not oily. EDIT: It is transmission fluid leaking. Just blotted some on a paper towel: it's reddish.
