Any good trans shops/freelancers?
Hey guys. I'm looking for a good transmission shop (or talented freelancers) in the Houston area that has experience troubleshooting mid 1950's Ford-o-matic transmissions.
(Not a truck, but it's a Ford and early F-100's did have an optional ford-o-matic!)
Dad's '57 Thunderbird's original ford-o-matic was rebuilt last year and is not able to be adjust shift points at all. Works, but shifts way too late - 35 mph with little to no load... book says 28 mph. Linkage rod adjustment makes no difference. All throttle linkage/bellcrank adjustments have been made according to shop manual.
Two different shops... both not willing to actually dig in and figure out the issue. Original shop that rebuilt has since changed ownership and is worthless... Long story.
Car is located in Cypress, TX (290/1960 area). But willing to travel for the right person/shop.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated! We do have several extra parts for the trans including a couple of valve bodies, but want to get an expert opinion before tearing into or taking somewhere else.
