I was finally able to get my trim pieces (hood, grill bars, light bezels) chrome plated and am ready to put them back on. Problem is, I do not know what connectors to use.
Can anyone point me towards a place to buy the hardware to install all the trim? I need it for each part: center hood, side hood pieces, three piece for hood latch, grill bars, etc.
Also, my long skinny center hood piece did not turn out as good as the other pieces as it was a little beyond repair. Is there anywhere to get a replacement for that piece?
I have looked on MACS, etc, but its a little confusing as to what parts (both the mounting hardware and the trim piece) will fit on my truck.
i used these here a few weeks back, you need to trim them to fit. I used tin snipes. Wasn’t a big deal. They also don’t have lock washers, thought it would be a good idea so they didn’t vibrate loose.
Thanks for the help! I guess now i just need to figure out em what to use for the center hood trim
The bolts, or machine screws that hold the pot metal hood latch pieces have a large pan head, but you could use washers under a normal head. I didn't have tin snips up to the task so I ground down the sides of the grill bar fasteners. I wish C&G would contact their manufacturer and tell them the pieces are too wide. I have had to modify 3 sets. I mentioned it to the person on the phone. To attach the center hood strip I sawed a strip of cedar to the angles that fit inside the strip and drove wood screws into the cedar from the underside of the hood. But that's just me not wanting to order some circular odd shaped clips that end up not working. Bernette, you did an amazing job on that trim!
I used Restoration specialties for those clips. Ask for Jeff. If you give them the dimensions of the rails they fit in and maybe a photo of any remaining pieces they can get the correct ones for you. (There are different clips for some of the chrome and or interior parts). They have many kinds and sizes so I used all new clips to put my chrome back on the hood and grille. No problems.
