Where to get diagnostic in Dallas area
Truck is down on power, was quoted $125 for a general code check, and $300 for buzz test with a cylinder contribution test, sounds ridiculous to me. Are these prices out of line? Any suggestions on where to go in the Dallas area? Does Auto Zone or any of the other parts places even have a diesel scanner?
Thanks,

No, autozoo or the regular parts houses can't scan the truck for all the codes or perform the tests.
$80 and you can buy a bluetooth connector. Assuming you have a laptop with bluetooth capabilities, you can down load forscan for free and read codes and do tests yourself.
Adapter that works well
Forscan for the laptop Download FORScan (the links for the cell phone don't have all the capabilities. To get full function of forscan, you have to join the forum and request an extended license (which is given automatically by filling out a form), but it will tell you everything you need to know.
