July 2017 Chat

Welcome to July !!!

Hope everyone has BBQing and Fireworks planned for Independence day! Looks like the rainy weather might hold off.

I think the battery is dying in the tractor. I cleaned the terminals and connections and did a good charge so we will see. I have to get some fluid for the hydraulic system.

I finally got the slow leak fixed on the Lightning tire.

Happy Birthday Hugh!!!
I'm not far behind ya brother.

Cave Spring had fireworks last night and we decided to go. I figured we live in a small town so it can't be that good. I was so wrong as it was probibly the best fireworks I have seen in years. Little man really liked them too. I think we are hanging out by the pool and grilling on Tuesday.

I added hydraulic fluid to the tractor and cleaning everything on the starting/charging system seems to have helped with the weak battery issue.

Couple days after my dad called about my Uncle, I got these in the mail from my Grandmother. They were my Grandfathers, hed be 95 this year. RIP, he died 7 or 8 years ago, Alzheimers. brought the serious feelings around. Next day, office guy at work, (simply put) put his hands on me and I almost beat him to a pulp in front of the boss, but I restrained for the first time with out exploding. Painter cant come to work, so boss and I are back to picking up the slack and really pissed with everyone else at work since just us 2 are actually worth a **** besides the painter (who legally cant come to work now)

Past month has been stupid

Dad called, autopsy on my uncle will have results next week. Told me family is acting like pieces of ****, and my dad and ONLY good left alive uncle had to lock down the house tighter than fort knox or everything will walk out like my last dead uncles stuff.

I really really dislike my family, and I really dislike alot of other **** right now.

For me kids are grown and have their own they are all 862 miles away. When they call with all their problems, "yea, I know, un hu, look I got to go love yall bye". After getting use to being retired that took care of a lot. Being able to slow down and do what you want. It what you have to.
Get away from people that cause you stress. We have friend we can only deal with in small doses. One key thing is recognize the stressors and either avoid them or heard to handle them instead of them handling you.
I was just like you at 35.
Even planning and designing the new house, if I feel the stress building I get away from it for a little while.

Good example today I mocked up the kitchen cabinets, after the mock up we had no counter space and my wife could not reach the far corner. She thought she wanted 30 in instead of standard 24. So instead of stressing over it, went back and studied the plans found several other things wrong. So I erased those and started over.

Things will get better just hang in there. Pick your battles an don't stress over stuff you can't change. Hugh gave some good advise, pretty much what I follow too.

Cut down 10 dead trees around the property yesterday. Good thing is that all but 2 fell back into the woods. Still have about 10 more to deal with.

Driving the Lightning to work today.

If it ever stops raining and days out I got a big oak to cut up for the cabinets 23 in base 30 ft no big limbs yet. I had to drop one hickory it had a dead top, going to have some of it milled to build a table top to mount on the stump. I trying not to cut anything not in the way or that I do not need for some thing. What I do take down trying to find uses for it.

Funny I never considered myself a consevasitist but now when I looking at stuff for the house it always involves saving energy.

Look what I still have in my photos

Been almost a year

That's a blast from the past. Believe it or not I don't really miss it. I like being home with my family every night and not have to worry about deploying. What I think is weird is my wife and daughter lived the Army life, my son will never know that part of my life other than thru pictures.
