LOST! and getting ready to drive truck into a tree
I am at a complete loss.
I stopped by a steaknshake about a week ago and turned truck off to talk to nice lady behind the speaker. Went to start up and a horrendous noise kind of grinding but not really. thought maybe starter even tho i just replaced a couple months prior. i roll truck back into a spot and forget about yellow starter wire, have truck towed home. (luckily close to house)
get to house and remember starter wire and try and it cranks like nothing is wrong. Still making horrendous noise with key but starts right up with yellow wire with blue tracer. I take the truck around the block and it is veryyyy sluggish to get going. once going over 10 has normal throttle response. once i hit about 45-50 it makes a different noise then normal, not a bad sound but like something isn't right and doesn't seem to want to shift into overdrive. The other thing i have noticed is the trans temp gauge seems to low. and doesn't move.
Now that i am typing i remember the next day going for another test run the throttle jerked a couple times at a steady idle.
Truck is stock except
-Full EGR delete from NCB diesel
- NCB diesel coolant filter system
I am lost and this is my main work truck. any help would be much appreciated!
First thing I would check is the starter mount bolts, all present and tight. Starter wiring tight. I'm not sure what the other issues have in common except they could be electrical.
The tree thing sounds like a bad idea to me, more stuff to fix after ya get it running right again.
I had a very similar issue on a car at the 100K mile mark. Turned out to be a bad battery cable even though it looked as good as new. Turned out the cable was corroded in the center under the jacketing, only found that out after I cut it in half. Just an idea.
