I have a 79 F150 with a 300 thta has a stumble issue. It idles good vacuum is holding steady at about 18.5. The stumble starts about the same place on my test drive and continues off and on through out the rest of the drive Its stall out a couple of times but started right back up. Ive been through the fuel system and it all seems good so I started in on the electrical. Replaced the coil and the ignition box with no change. I replaced the pickup coil with a ME52 from Orielys , two of them. I wont even turn over, it almost wants to start when turning the key back to off. put the old pickup back in and it will start right up. I see that the reluctor has a curve in it along the edges of the blades, does this need replaced to work with the new pickup or is there something else going on?
Thanks for any help.
I replaced mine about 1 year ago. I used the old relucter. I didn't like the 'made in China' label on mine, however, so I returned it and bought a NOS (new, old stock) MotorCraft one on ebay.
Id rather have NOS as well, if anyone has the part numbers for the pickup and reluctor. The tag on the distributor says D5TE-12127-FA. Looking at ebay for that, Id buy it.
After looking through the forums I believe I know what happened, one of the screws on the pickup plate was loose, it must have been moving around and rubbing against the reluctor causing wear on both parts. want to get that taken care of in hopes it is the cause of my stumble. Only other thing i can think of is a interment short in a wire somewhere.

The tag on the distributor says: D5TE-12127-FA = Ford part number:D5TZ-12127-F.. Distributor (MotorcraftDA-1442) .. Looking at ebay for that, I'd buy it.

D5TZ-12A112-A .. Stator aka magnetic pickup coil (Motorcraft DU-5) / Obsolete ~ Available NOS & from auto parts stores.
1975/79 F100/350 & Econoline 300 I-6.
What are you calling a reluctor, that round piece with blades? If so: D5DZ-12A099-A .. Armature (Motorcraft DT-6) / Obsolete ~ Available NOS
It seems you have multiple issues. 1 ignition switch issue, your pickup coil issue and probably a fuel issue if it starts to stumble at the same spot during your test drive. I had similar problems and cured the fuel issue. My carb bowl was running dry, adjusted carb float, went through hoses and eventually found my pickup tube in the tank rusted out to where i was getting air in the fuel.
