MSD Customer Service Sucks!!

I have an old MSD 6A. I want to have it rebuilt. The web says I need a Return Authorization Number from MSD. I call with credit card in hand. I wait on hold ...for 33 minutes. All the while a recording says I'm first in line.

I'm annoyed and call back. A recording on another number says the number I called, that department is at lunch!! So, I start calling numbers just to speak to a person. THERE IS NOOOOOOOOOO CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT OR NUMBER!!!!!!!

I tried sales, vendor numbers, etc. and got 'pls leave a message.'

Finally, I had to call accounting to speak to a person.

CUSTOMERS ARE ON THE PHONE WITH A CREDIT CARD, WAITING, AND YOU DON'T TELL THEM THAT DEPARTMENT IS AT LUNCH?????? "Just a minor glitch."

I can't believe a company does business that way. What a farce.

If I'm not mistaken, I think MSD is owned by Holley now. That explains a lot.

That is correct.

.. and that's why I now recommend staying away from MSD Atomic EFI systems cuz they technically compete with Holley's own Sniper and Terminator EFI systems.... Holley isn't about to put more money into MSD EFI nor be burdened by its customer support system when they have their own products to push.

It is beyond incompetence to have a department all out for lunch, and not mention that to customer on the phone. Rude and Trump-like.

WARNING

I am going out of my way to post this in order to help others.

DO NOT DEAL WITH MSD!!!!

It is a nightmare to simply call.

So, after untold calls and unbelievable wait times, I was told to send the 6A. The price range, I was told, would be $25--$89. The most expensive charge would be charged if the mother board was fried. NEVER WAS I TOLD THE REPAIRS MIGHT BE MORE, or that they couldn't repair it. Hell, they are MSD!

I sent the box, waited two weeks, and it comes back with a note saying it would cost them too much to repair it.

I can't call the service department to talk it over. I can't get through. THERE IS NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT in El Paso where the repairs are to be made. I had to speak with a woman in Ohio who had no idea what was happening in El Paso.

I have NEVER had such difficulty trying to conduct business with a Company.

MSD=The Peter principle personified. (A company expands to its level of incompetence.) RUN!!!!!

Hey Justin. Thanks for the reply. But I believe we are speaking about two different things. I was trying to have one of their units refurbished. You were speaking with a tech about using/installing their unit.

I too called the number you did when I first installed my 6A, and got good pro help. But then, when the unit failed, and I wanted to have it fixed, I had to call the dungeon repair dept in El Paso. It was two opposite experiences. Believe me.

Funny. Under Siege2. The bad guy said: 'Assumption is the mother of all ...ups.'

I loved their product when it was working. Now that I think it through, I think I know what happened: I complained about the repair department. They took my name, etc. When I sent in my box, tech recognized my name and gave me the ol' Texas two step, 'we'll fix him', and said it could not be repaired.
