As some of you know, Mallory was bought out by MSD. In Jan MSD started changing the part#'s over to all MSD numbers, and deleting the Mallory excess. Summitt has a lot(if not all) of Mallory items on sale. It Looks to be a clearenace sale. You might want to buy your spare caps and rotors now.
That's one thing, I hate about aftermarket stuff. Most all is special order, then you get to wait for it. one to three days. And yes it's always smart to carry extra spare hard to get parts.
Keep them in the glove box or under the seat.
If your truck has the side tool box like mine where the seal leaks when washing it or when it rains and then the inside retain moisture an may corrode everything in it.
I've drilled a few holes in the upper rear of the box to help let out any moisture that may get in it.

Sort of but not really... Holley Performance Group, owner of the Mallory brand, bought out the MSD Group. Holley is essentially replacing Mallory with MSD.
Now that brings up a question.. Holley has the Terminator EFI and now has acquired MSD's Atomic series including, among others, the EFI systems and tranny controllers. What's gonna happen? Phase out the MSD EFI or will they keep it as an option as an in-house competitor with the Terminator EFI system?

I store my on-board spares in zip-lock freezer bags.

That's a very good question indeed. I wonder if they do cancel out the MSD EFI systems what are all the buyers going to do for replacement parts and service? So will the MSD brand still be as good as it's reputation and quality as it was before it was bought out? Or will Holley have the parts made cheaper/lower quality and just keep the MSD brand name on them? I've been a fan of MSD for awhile and don't want to see there products go downhill.
I copied this from the Mallory website:
In January of 2015, MSD Performance purchased the ACCEL Performance Group. The MSDP Group, a global leader in vehicle aftermarket performance ignition and tuning technology, made the decision to merge the top two companies in the automotive ignition industry worldwide—MSD and Mallory. Mallory will no longer manufacture its product line after March 31st. However, MSD will produce and service Mallory distributor replacement parts such as caps, rotors, points, and nearly 100 other items.
I tried to download the old mallorypart# to the MSD part# cross ref pages, but I can't get the PDF to download to this page, But a lot of parts are being discontinued. Check out the www.Mallory.com site for more info.
Strange thing is the Holley Group isn't even mentioned in the press release. I don't know what gives. The MSD review page has 5 angry customers, they all say that the prices have gone up already.
Hopefully the prices haven't gone up to much I still need to buy a MSD distributor and ignition box for my 460. I just don't want to see the quality go down that's the main thing. I've seen other companies be bought out and the new guys in charge tried to save on production cost so the quality and well known reputation of the brand it once was got destroyed and many many lost customers.

Sure looks like Mallory is about gone. Too bad, I think the more competion, the better. It promotes better products. Not to mention better prices. I wonder how many lost their jobs?
I agree Crazed. With all those that Hio listed, I'm surprised the Government hasn't stepped in claiming "Monopoly".
It likely wouldn't be considered a "monopoly" but rather fall under the antitrust laws where possibly Holley Performance Group would possess too much market share. However, I don't think the Federal Trade Commission would be concerned given the number of small independent companies who service the aftermarket.
This is in contrast to telecommunications where we have ATT, Sprint, TMobile, Verizon, and MetroPCS where each may have geographic leverage. What can be truly monopolistic are cable service and utilities.
