Help with Previous Owner 6V to 12V
1. I believe for the most part the truck is converted to 12V by the PO
2. I tested the generator at about 1500 RPM and it's putting out over 15v
3. Regulator is 12V replacement
4. Battery is Neg Grnd 12 V
5. Lights are all 12V bulbs and work (after replacing some old cloth wiring that turned to dust.
6. Turn signals are disconnected and no flasher found. Looks to be 6V so i'll replace later with a 12v kit.
7. The cig lighter is disconnected
8. Fuel guage sender is disconnected but I'm putting a 12V on that.
9. Looks like the oil pressure sender has been replaced and it works.
10. Engine Temp sender works as well.
11. Ammeter works but backwards (just need to flip wires on the back?)
12. Heater is working fine, not sure how to tell if it was changed to 12v but there is a new wire running into the case and at the switch there is something that appears to be a voltage reducer of some sort. But the heater works fine.
Now the tough part for me, there is an electric wiper motor (dual wipers) up in there that looks old. Wires are attached except for 1 and they are cloth but in decent shape. How can I tell if this wiper motor is 6V or 12V? I see nothing at the switch to indicate that it was reduced however that is where one of the wires is "pulled". Maybe it fell out and I just need to plug it in or maybe it was not converted and plugging it in will smoke it. Any ideas? Would it hurt to somehow connect 6V to it (I have a 6V battery) and if it doesn't work try the 12v? These aren't cheap and I hate to ruin it. Maybe I need to remove it from the truck and see if there is any indication on it? Unless you all know of an easy way to test it. Thanks
