Dash cam questions need advice
Use
Just a simple dash cam for capturing drives and anything that might happen on a trip.
I have a 2000 limted 7.3l 4x4 (white in color if it matters to anyone) I live in Southern California and make trips to Arizona fairly often so heat resistance is a concern. I would like to hard wire it in. Hopefully I can find something that will mount up behind the rear view mirror but not essential. I am on a budget so cost is a slight factor. Please let me know what you have or recommend. Thanks in advance for all the help
You will want full HD if you expect to make out any sort of plates when moving.
Blackvue DR650GW-2ch has front and rear cams, GPS on board to get your speed/direction, has impact sensors to automatically lock video if you get into a crash or someone bumps you in a parking lot, and if you tie it into a power controller (that you can get on their site), you can have it record in parking mode to catch anyone who bumps you in a parking lot or maybe even breaks in.
Records video and audio (you can mute the audio mic by just touching it...so you can not record your voice but if someone like PD or another driver talks to you through the window, it will pick up that audio).
You can use your cell phone as the 'screen' by connecting to it wirelessly (wifi) using the app and then have a nice big 3+ inch screen to view videos on.
Huge fan, and I've used the video on multiple occasions...great unit and looks very discreet when installed.
