I have a 1997 F150 that i think has a very weak spark. I used a ignition tester from auto zone to test the spark and got a weak yellow colored spark that only happens one every 50 sec to min some times longer. I was thinking it is possibly the Ignition Control Module but i looked every were on this truck and cant find it. I have all ready change one coil driver side as i stared with miss fire that turned out to be a bad injector. Truck was running before this i turned off the ignition next day the car would not start. I am at a lost here any help would be great.
you put the key in the ignition and turn to "on", not start ... The THEFT light comes on for 3 second, then goes out when the key is recognized by the start system... At the same time the fuel pump comes on and runs for 3 seconds to build up pressure in the fuel rail........ both of these happen ?
Steve on the right track no codes were found in the computer we purge the fuel rail and the car started all be it the engine was surging like crazy. Turn out bad fuel pump tested with a pressure gauge. Had to get a mechanic to look at it man i did not want to have to go that route. 300 later should be running soon. Most likely the mechanic is saying since we just replaced a bad injector it caused a weak fuel pump to go out with in a week. This model truck does not have anti theft either standard key. Kept telling people i ask for advice that it had to be fuel pump they kept telling no it most likely spark related hate to be right with gut instinct. Every time i lost an Ignition Control Module it has been while running and just shuts off. I never just turned a key off the next day not started unless it has been a bad fuel pump. That three different cars i had this happen on well least ford f150 fuel pumps are not 600.00 to repair GMC sigh.
