Going to pick up my new 2016 cc 4x4 xl this afternoon. It has manual Windows and locks. I don't mind that part, but would really like 4 door remote keyless entry. What's the best kit out there? How difficult to install? I'm not great with electronics, I can handle a radio, but pretty handy with a wrench. you think I can handle this?
Factory ford stuff wont work without lots of parts. Get a kit that adds in the stuff and they usually have a remotes start/alarm as well. I bought a "command start" system for my 06 duty. It had power locks already and the kit was about $250 installed.
My salesman hooked me up with the people they use for stuff like this. Their price is 400 installed. That's all four doors, 2 fobs, and a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty to match the factory bumper to bumper. Seems worth it to me, considering its manual locks so 4 actuators have to be installed.

In your research, did you happen to find out if the keypad can be added to an XL truck like mine? I do have power locks right now. I have heard that the factory keypad can be added to a truck if it has power door locks. Thanks
I didn't do any research on installing the keypad, but I did notice that when I googled "2016 f250 keyless entry kit", the keypad was the first thing that popped up. I've had the keypad on several vehicles, and have never used it. Remote keyless makes it obsolete to me.
On another note, I drove the new truck to work this am. I guess drive out tags are a magnet for drag races. I had a Chevy 1/2 ton try to race me, I ignored it, but passed him back after we got up to speed. Next red light, a older f150 screw with loud pipes ripped out of the red light like I was going to drag race him. We got to another red light, a much safer place with no side roads or drives, and I Said screw it, I leached forward a little to let the f150 know I was going to race him this time, and when the light changed I was shocked. This ain't your daddy's old 5.4. The traction control was working overtime off the line and When I hit 60 I let off and was 1 1/2- 2 truck length in front of him. He turned at the next intersection, I got over for my turn, and caught another red light. That Chevy from the first red light rolled up beside me, but didn't even bother to race this time. This 6.2 is impressive. It's no mustang, but for a big heavy stock truck, this thing will move.

You first need to find out if you have RKE (remote keyless entry). If you can get a fob to program, then you can add the keypad Ford Accessories sells. I added one the passenger door of my 2015 F350.
To see if the truck has RKE, try to go into programming mode. doors closed, foot off brake pedal, and then cycle the key from off to on 7 times and on the 8th cycle to on, the door locks will cycle lock/unlock. If the door locks do not cycle, you do not have RKE and can not add the keypad.
You also take the VIN of your truck and go to this Ford site and see the build sheet that will also id your truck for options installed. Click on the Vehicle tab and then enter your VIN.
I worked with a guy that added the outside keypad you are talking about. It bought the keypad online, and ford programmed him for it. It been some years but am pretty sure he paid like $75 for the keypad and $50ish to have the dealer program it.

You program it the same way you program the fobs....cycle the key from off to on 8 times..and stop with key in ON position of 8th key turn....the door locks will cycle to indicate you are in programming mode...and then you push buttons 7/8 and 9/0 at same time....
if you have key fobs like i showed above, you have to program them at this time also...even if they were previously programmed
In the future, key fobs and external key pads will need the Ford IDS/VCM to program them to the vehicle. The 2016 Fusion already requires this intervention by the dealer.
