Cool Stalling Problems

I have a 78 351M Bronco, with a Holley 2300 500cfm 2bl carb. The engine runs fine until it reaches operating temperature, and then it stalls if i accelrate. It will Idle fine. I have a clear fuel filter just before the carb and its dry. I replaced the fuel pump, filter, battery, coil, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and the ignition module. I have checked all of my vacuum lines to make sure nothing is unplugged. It runs great until it warms up usually 15-20 min. PLz HeLp

Stalling Problems

is the filter dry when it is running? check the fuel pump pressure . the filter should not be dry. check to see if the accellorator pump is squirting. cold engine the choke plate will be closed to some extent and this will richae up your mixture. my 2 thoughts is vbad accellorator pump or bad fuel pump and in that order. good luck and let us know what you come up with.

Stalling Problems

The filter is full then goes dry while running after engine warms up. None of the fuel lines have been re-routed. I was thinking the accellorator pump also, but I dont know much about carbs, but the fuel should actually get there first shouldnt it? This thing has me stumped. I am going to check the fuel pump pressure today to make sure I didnt buy a new bad pump.

I removed gas cap also to make sure it wasnt bad, while holding the throttle down I can see the filter go dry. So I probually got a bad pump, or there is something stuck in my fuel line

Stalling Problems

I had several cases on my bronco where the fuel pump would go weak. It would pump enough fuel to maintain speed on a flat level road, but to accelerate for a length of time or go up hill, forget it once the bowl went dry. I had this on 3 pumps. Dont know if it's a common failure mode on these engines (mine's a 400) but it sure puzzled me out till I figured it out. Cant say yours is the same problem, but it is worth a check.

Stalling Problems

I had 2 pumps go bad on me, I tore the secound one apart to see ( I'm just that way). It had a hole in the diaphram, at low rpm's it was not sucking as much air is what I guessed (a gas moves more freely than a liquid).

Stalling Problems

I did the same to the new pump I bought and found it was defective had a hole in the new diaphram go figure.... Decided to go with a electric pump. Seems to be running fine. Now just need gas. Finally fix it, and then have a pipeline break causing a major gas shortage in Phoenix it SUKS! But at least my truck runs. Thanks ALL!
