somewhat newbie with a question

somewhat newbie with a question

Hi All, well this past summer I picked up a 95 extended cab swb with a 6 cyl and a 5 spd, pretty much all the whistles and bells too, needed a clutch and the guy let me have it for 800.00, put a clutch in it and have been driving the wheels off of it. The motor has 210k on it and it runs ok. i know the motor is tired but it is not smokin and always starts right up, on to the problems, the rear tank doesnt seem to work I throw the switch and the gas gauge works but the tank wont switch I know there is gas in it for a fact. is there a switching valve somewhere? Problem number 2, while I know I am looking at a rebuild for the motor, I was thinking how cool would it be to put a 4.6 and a 5 spd in it like my mustang gt, it already is fuel injected and it has a electric speedo and gauges, so will the electrics swap over and will the fuel system work, also what about mounts. Has anyone done this swap before? or am I better sticking with the 300, if so I want a few more ponies out of it, any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Fuel tank switch valve is under the cab, drivers side on the inside of the frame.

The 4.6 wasn't a great truck motor. I'm not sure if the swap you're looking at is do-able or not. Personally, i'd build the 4.9 or drop a 5.8 in. just my 2 cents.

Yeah that 300 is a damn fine motor - it can take a beating. There is a popular 6 cylinder tune up for that engine that gives it some more oomph.
