water in fuel light came on question?

My water in the fuel light came on for the first time since I have owned the Excursion, which is a little over a year. Only thing i have done different is Monday this week i put in some hot shot diesel fuel additive to try to help with stiction. Does anyone thing the additive is the cause of the light to come on?

I wouldn't think so. I would drain the water seperater, you'll be able to see the water separated bellow the fuel when you drain it into a clear jug. Then you should be good to go. It's common for water to build up in diesel fuel and jet fuel, which are very similar.

If draining the water doesn't clear the WIF light you will want to pull the manifold of and clean all the crud out with brake/carb cleaner. That crap really packs in around the sensor. You will also want to pick up a gasket kit from the dealer because the old ones will likely not fit back in the manifold.
