Water in fuel light staying on.

Can anyone please help. Water in fuel light came on and stays on. No white smoke from tailpipe. Switched tanks. Still the same. I was hoping to use my truck Sunday.

Thanks for any help.

drain the water separator and see if you get any water out of it.

it's not good when you get fuel in your water brother.

the water in fuel light, just means the sensor has grounded in the fuel bowl.only water, not fuel allows this ground.so you simply reach up under your fuel bowl and you'll feel a drain screw.drain off the water.just takes a couple seconds and snug it back up.the water in fuel light should go out and your good to go.

the diesel supplement maintenance booklet (1993) shows the water trap should be drained off every 25k miles as routine maintenance (and sooner of course as needed) whenever the light flickers/remains on.
