A well tuned 6.0 will run circles around a tuned 7.3, but be prepared for blown head gaskets, unless you already have head studs.
I had a 7.3 before my 6.0. I happen to like the 6.0 much better, granted it's been "bulletproofed". They don't hold a candle to the 7.3 in reliability stock vs stock, but they are faster.
That being said...a deleted and tuned 6.4 will run circles around a 6.0...until the 6.4 blows up. I wouldn't buy a 6.4.

In my limited 5 month experience with my 6.0L I have to agree with the others. my stock 6.0L was stronger than my 7.3L with stock injectors, chip, exhaust & a rebuilt turbo.
I added Tony Wilmans tunes to the 6.0L and she's just as strong if not stronger as my 7.3L with stage I injectors. Don't get me wrong, love my 7.3L's - have had one of them for 12 years, she did awesome pulling our 30' 5th wheel around the country. There just two different animals.
If you're going to tune high and tow heavy, an EGT gauge and studs are in your future. Doing them before or after you actually break something is your call.
I'm using an SCT tuner. I run a mild program safe for towing and can definitely tell a difference vs. stock tune. The SCT also eliminates the CEL for an EGR delete and lets me adjust my speedo for the taller tires. I tried the max power tune and was blown away by the performance, but was afraid I'd blow the heads off of it.

I guess I confused some .........my 7.3 pulled and went ok stock , but it pulled and went better chipped.
That was my question , is it the same deal with a 6L?
I don't have any dyno numbers to prove it, but it definitely feels like I have better torque with the SCT tuner. With the new turbo, EGR delete, and 5" exhaust my mechanic (one of the best 6.0L mechanics in Colorado according many local guys) recommended the SCT tuner.
Don't forget that if you get the tunes from Matt at Gearhead's
the SLR is done for studded or NON-studed. That way if you do
have the TTY bolts you don't lift them.
One more cool option is turning off the EGR system. That way your
100% there and it not tuning on. That comes in the SCT and should
be on all of the newer units. If you get tunes from Matt you can have
then tweaked a bit for oddball things also.
