04 F250 Heated seat

So, I bought this truck a couple months back, and have been fixing small issues here and there....One that has been bugging me for the longest is the Heated seat, I have checked the fuse and the wiring under the seat (all seem to be good) however when I hit the switch there is nothing....Any ideas? The switch doesnt light up at all and seems to be getting no power. Any help would be great, I have read the ways to remove the seat and replace burnt wires but it seems to me that even though the fuse is good theres no power going to it...There are a bunch of extra wires in the fuese panel as there is a DVD added to the rear of the truck but nothing seems out of place, except for a "smoke switch" that I've already removed .

I would bet a PP&J that Yahiko aka Sean has a wiring diagram he could share. Have you checked for voltage at the switch and did you check the fuses with a VOM? Visually they may look good but still be bad.

No i haven't, Just visually checked it, its a large square fuse not one that I am totally familiar with ....Sorry to sound stupid but this is first vehicle I've owned that didnt take "regular" 2 pronged fuses. Plus to be totally honest the previous owner did a lot of electrical work to the truck, pretty sure it has a remote start, and a plow control just not sure which one is which, as well as I mentioned either the smoke switch or high idle mod (small push button switch with 2 wires running to it)

It's a relay, and they can fail just like a fuse. The other thing you need dispagrams from Yahiko is that the seatbelt occupancy sensor triggers the power atleast on my 2005 it does. So, if you ain't sitting on the seat, the relay won't letter the higher amp circuit to the seat heater. It's more complicated than a single source power wire to the switch. I just did mine and it took me a while to finger this out. I ended up having to replace the lower pad, which also has the heat protection so you don't set a fire. My lower pad wiring was separated outside the pad, believe just my rear force for 200k was the culprit. I got my lower heating pad on eBay. Someone posted the instructions to take her all apart and it was done no problem. I a, betting between relays and fuses and the lower pad, which takes the beating especially drivers seat this is your issue.

Fuse

Well, took the truck to oreileys and had them test the fuse...it was bad, however a new one still didnt solve the issue , any idea where this relay is? Want to do the "simpler" stuff before I rip the seat off

Where are you checking for power? There are several plugs under the seat, the electric seat controls, the one two wire plug for the heated seat, check for power at that end, and at the fuse box, might need to take the fuse box out and drop it down and pin from the back. Look for Yahiko posts for the diagram picture of the inside fuse box. I will try and find it for you.

It's number 21 fuse, in the middle of the insides fuse box, it's a small 15 A below a 20 amp. That's from my owners manual dpfor a 2005. I am not certain it's the same for yours.

I haven't been out to check the panel for #21 however the book says on mine that #21 is not used,it showed #109 as the heated seats one (which was blown when I went to oreileys yesterday) I replaced it and still nothing...My fuse panel is very confusing,I verified yesterday that for some reason the previous owners put a Aftermarket security system in (not sure why) then they also put an aftermarket DVD system in the head liner (very well except for the wiring in the fuse box). My fuse panel and under it is definitely a cluster F lol...If the local ford dealer wouldn't charge so darn much i'd take it to them and have em just tell me what everything is

#21 shows not used in my book, the fuse 109 (big 30 amper) was the one it said...which is the one I changed because of being blown, still no light & no heat

From your users manual? Mine is pretty confusing how it is numbered so a picture linking the two diagram to the numbering is helpful. If you have power to the one side of the fuse, and you have verified, then the next thing is to check the continuity of the positive wire to the seat heater. Before you take the seat out, I would probe for continuity across from one side of the fuse block to the harness clip under the seat to the seat heater. If this verifies continuity, then the switch, and the harness in the seat have to be looked at. From there it's the element, the in line fuse in the seat heater. Lower element, the occupancy sensor. Your getting close to taking the seat out and putting on the bench to check these last steps and I would put 12 volt power, fused, to the plug to see if you can light that seat heater light. See you can get power to the light but the seat heater won't heat until the occupancy sensor is showing occupied. It makes this a bit of a pain. Keep it up you are on the right track and getting closer. Hopefully Yahiko can load you the diagram and picture of the year of your truck and a wiring diagram for the seat heater circuits. I was not able to pull these up yesterday.

The diagram I found online which is more complicated than I am shows the relay under the seat and the wire colors, also shows Fuse 109& fuse 27...I know 109 is good (as I've already replaced this) going to check 27 here in a few when I get off work...other than that I think I should probably pull the wires from the switch and see if there is any power coming to them ...Because from what I can see with the diagram it is the fuse, a relay, then the switch....Since I am not positive which thing underneath the seat is the relay, I can check the wires coming into the switch for power...

Give me a little bit and I should have it. Silly slow cranky XP Pro box
takes it's time booting. But it is faster than the Win7 with the sick hard drive.
