I was towing a fairly heavy trailer yesterday (around 10k) and laying into the throttle to gain some speed before a big hill when I completely lost power. It slowed me down to about 10 MPH.
I was able to drive home at very slow speeds and the only way to get over 10 MPH (only up to about 20MPH was to very lightly accelerate up to speed. Any hard acceleration and it cut me off to 10 MPH. No warning lights of any kind going off...
Truck has a Hypertech Max Energy programmer on stage 2.
Remove the programmer, clear codes and see what happens is what I would do...
If it does it in stock mode you should set codes. Then go from there.
Feel free to post your codes and issues after you go back to stock. I don't know that programmer and it's really tough to diagnose something with a programmer on, so don't take it as I am anti-programmer. If you get a Ford dealer to look at it, you'll need it deprogrammed regardless...

Thanks. I just reset to factory settings and it's driving just fine.
I'd like to know what caused it but don't think the Hypertech programmer has a code reading function, unless there's one I'm unaware of (entirely possible).
Does anyone know if these programmers come with a code reading function?
The problem lies with the Hypertech. I haven't even heard of that brand of tuner out there. You are breaking the golden rule of tuning these trucks.....Only tune on stock power!!!!! I would check everything over and sell your Hypertech. If your trying to use a tuner without deleting the DPF, I would go with one of the more known brands. H&S, Spartan, SCT, and there seems to be a handful of custom programmers now.

Hypertech has been around for a long time. Not that it makes me like them...
And as you said, Tofan, the brands you mentioned are the ones with the best reputation for the 6.7 Diesel Fords.
Going back to stock and having the truck behave properly makes me think that something is off with the programmer or programming in the programmer.

These guys bring up a great point of the problem being with the Hypertech. How long you been using it?
Hey guys, would there be a code stored in the ECM from that?
