Hot Rod black

That looks great! Dont scuff it, because it's hard to keep clean as it is. Hot rod black can't be waxed, so it's very tough to protect it from bugs and such. I have one custom done in it, and I won't do it again because I spend so much time cleaning it.
I think these trucks look great in satin. Nice job!

Anyone try Hot Rod Flatz Style Matte Car Paint Colors | UreKem Paints? That have a lot of pretty cool looking satin to flat colors.

Age equals experience
You are correct on 2 things. Most hot rods we made didnt ever get past the primer stage as we being young always spent money elsewhere. Looks like times haven't changed. The second of course is we all knew your age now!!!

How about RatWax or Matte Detailer? I'm sure that there are others.
Haven't tried either of those. I have learned how to wash it to prevent water spots. I've noticed on mine that water spots seem to stain the paint, and are really tough to get out once they're there. I wash my car one panel at a time, chamois it and microfiber towel it completely dry before moving to another panel. If I don't do this, I end up with water spots that have to be hand buffed out with Simple Green. If the stuff you linked actually works, I'm truly indebted to you.
