Just looking for some assistance on where to start looking to resolve this code. It is not an intermittent code. It returns after about 3 to 4 key turns. Truck idles a little rough but runs fine. I have looked up the code and causes but wondering if anyone has dealt with this directly and fixed it. I'm wanting to sell my truck for something bigger and would like to solve the issue before hand. Thanks in advance for any advice..
Welcome to FTE. I'll see if I can get things started & maybe others will chime in. Good idea to post the trouble code Number & the light coming on after 3-4 key turns clues.
P1450 = Inability of Evaporative Emission Control System to Bleed Fuel Tank.
Could be caused by a number of things, like a faulty purge valve, or loose electrical connector, connection/pins, or socket corrosion, spread socket, bent pin, faulty wiring to it, faulty, or non OEM gas cap not venting the tank, faulty/loose/clogged vapor recovery tubing between the tank & purge valve ect, so we need some more clues to better focus what to look for.
If you have more trouble codes, post All code Number clues you have.
Did the problem come about slowly over time, or suddenly after some event????
Does the CEL go out for a while after you remove the gas cap to fill up????
There are no there codes present. The check engine light came on one day when I was pushing my truck on the highway cuz I had an emergency. I initially wanted to know if it was a one time thing or not so I disconnected the battery to reboot the computer. Like I said, it came back on after 3 to 4 key turns/engine starts. After the third or fourth start, the check engine light will come on while I am driving. I recently replaced my plugs and wires and had disconnected the battery then. Again the light went off but came back on after a while. I have looked up the possible causes for the code and have done visual inspection under the hood but nothing jumped out at me. Just asking for ideas.. thank you pawpaw for the assistance. I appreciate the help.
This is part of what my manual sezs:
If the initial target vacuum is exceeded, a system flow fault exists and DTC P1450 (unable to blead-up fuel tank vacuum) is set. The EVAP Leak Check Monitor will abort and not continue with the leak check portion of the test.
Then further on after discussing if the target vacuum is obtained on the fuel tank, "The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) [or CEL, if you prefer] is activated for DTCs P0442, P0455, P0456, P0457, P1443, and P1450 (or P446) after two occurrences of the same fault. The MIL ..."
So this code P1450 is part of the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Leak Check Monitor and the code has something to do with the gas tank vacuum, so check the hose that comes out of your tank for the emissions, it should run up towards the front of the truck to the vapor canister or the intake manifold. The hose might be broken or pinched.
