I like to do preventative maintenance and with my truck nearing 280k and some decent towing coming this summer, I would like to do a couple things in the valley. My game plan was rebuild the fuel bowl, fuel lines, possibly HPO lines, possibly FRX, I also have a new IPR I may put in. The turbo pedestal has new o rings as of last year. Anything else I should do or not do? Thanks
I would replace the O-rings in the STC fittings where the HPO lines connect. Also, look closely for any signs of leakage from the HPOP. It would be an ideal time to R&R the HPOP while the fuel bowl is already removed; making the IPR replacement easier, too. If you do remove the HPOP, removing the reservoir will give to better access to the fuel rail test plug, in the passenger side head, for the FRX installation. I had a DIY version FRX at the time of my Stealth HPOP install.
Check the passenger side fuel line at the "P" clamp for chafing.
1. Go ahead and rebuild the "non-serviceable" plug in the bottom of the HPOP
2. Consider replacing the IPS, especially if there is oil in the connector.
3. Might want to either replace the PS fuel rail, or at a minimum add new cushioning to it inside the PS clamp which is where it typically cracks and leaks. If you use a piece of fuel hose, you'll have to reshape the clamp, but it will ensure a much longer life for that line.
If you have a scanner or Auto Enginuity see what your Baro sensor, MAP sensor & EBP sensor read on a cold engine with Key On Engine Off. If they are more that .2-.4 off from the Baro sensor it probably is time to replace it.
X2 on the HPOP fitting O-rings, and x15 on the passenger side fuel line check.
Check the up pipes and tighten the bolts at the collector.
Rich... dangit... I meant to say ICP instead of IPS. Today has been "headless chicken" day at the office, and I've been scrambling around so much I'm not even sure where my head fell off this morning.
Are you ever in a million years going to power up? If you go to... say... Stage 1s and a 38r, the intake plenum seals are in jeopardy. Going after those bad boys is a major undertaking, so I don't push this one - but if you dream big....
Tugly, i dont think this is the truck i will do that with. The money isnt there right now, it just has to haul around the farm and my pulling truck back and forth since its not my daily driver so with the basic mods, it does good enough. I do dream big but for now its just a dream lol
