Hi'
I have a 2000 f250 SD 4x4 auto trans. with manual lock in lock out hubs I live in Ky where we have had some bad weather I have been going from 2 wheel to 4 wheel drive quite a bit but in the past couple of days I noticed 4x4 is not engaging all of the time but when it does the 4x4 dash indicator lights up but when it doesn't engage the 4x4 light indicator isn't on any info is greatly welcome and thanks a lot
ouch.
there is all kinds of things that can go wrong with that silly setup.
bad electric shift motor on the transfer case, bad switch in the dash, to failing electronic components in the computer system.
sorry i can't be of more help, i run far away from ESOF trucks as fast as i can.
Hoping I can be of some help. The easiest thing to try with those electronic shift styles when they're acting up is just playing around with it for a while. My dads buddy has a truck with electronic transfer case shift and it wasn't working all the time. Before he took it to a shop my dad told him to try playing around with it (engage disengage, engage disengage etc.). After a while he said it worked and its been shifting fine. He didn't use his super frequently just once in a while, I guess these electric shift ones can get a little funny if they sit a while. Just something easy to try, hope it helps!
