Right around Christmas. Hubby used the code reader and found this:
U059E - Invalid Data Received from NOx Sensor A
And then cleared it. CEL went away and hasn't been back since, so my question is, am I safe? Was it a fluky reading on a cold day of making short errand runs? Or did I have an actual problem even though the CEL has not come back? Truck is running fine, no issues (knock on wood), and I'm not really worried - just curious more than anything.
Well, I've been watching my mpg and I don't see anything alarming, it may be down a little but since I didn't pay that close of attention to it previously, I can't say for sure. I think I will just wait until my next oil change, and let them check it out then. Given that I only paid 2.14 a gallon to fill up last night, I can afford a slight drop for a little longer!
If vloney is right (I have no reason to doubt a Ford Tech citing Ford codes), the problem will exist until the connector is reattached (if loose) or replaced.
If the code didn't reappear it was probably just a transient error. I've seen them popup from time to time over the years. If it comes back you've probably got a loose connection or a failing sensor.
