That makes sense, thanks. Any key physical traits I could spot to pin it down? Anything bad about having this trans in the truck?
And BTW, its coupled to a Lincoln V8 with an ECM id no which shows it was off the same era - I guess either out of a Lincoln (valve covers) or out of a big truck as this is a Y Block engine which I guess they used in both.

I've never actually seen one, but I wanted one very badly when I had the y-block ... so yes I think you have a very desirable engine / trans. combo.
Are you driving it yet? ..... picture's, we love picture's
Clark supplied heavy duty 5 speed transmissions to many of the medium duty truck builders, Ford used a lot of them, so did Chevy. They're a great transmission, just a bit heavy and slow shifting. You'll never break it though!
The engine and transmission are a unit from a larger truck. The giveaways on the engine are the water pump and crank pulley, which are set up to mount a wide belt fan from the water pump. Hopefully someone here can purchase it, or the purchaser will join here. A very interesting truck.
Well thanks for all of your input. I had a feeling it was a large truck set up but its nice to hear that from the experts!
It also has an aux gas tank mounted under the bed which looks to me like a factory(?) or at least of that era option. Very sanitary with a large glass topped fuel filter mounted in line that looks like it could have been a large truck extra too.
