Ok, I pull a horse trailer and was looking for backup camera to help attach the trailer. There are a lot of options, but didn't want another dedicated monitor as my after market head unit doesn't have any lcd displays. I also didn't want to run the cables all the way to the front. So I started looking at WIFI backup cameras.

Well there reallly isn't much options. Must use 2.4ghz like cordless phones but you still have to have a dedicated monitor. After extensive searching and not finding much, I stumbled upon a youtube video about a wifi backup camera setup.

So I found it on ebay and took a chance that this Chinese product will work. Well so far it does seem to work. Here is what I bought.

So I took a $115 gamble but so far it works. THe camera it comes with is not the greatest. so I bought this from amazon.


So after some splicing I was able to get it to view off of my android phone. First I tested it out wiring directly to the battery. And I confirmed it worked. So then the next question was how to power it in the rear. I had a cigarette lighter adapter for an inverter and test wired it to the wifi adapter. I plugged it in the rear cigarette adapter and it worked fine.

So I think I will use this setup. What I am after is to put the wifi adapter in the truck to attach the trailer, then move just the wifi adapter and put in trailer with the camera the wifi adapter came with so we can watch our horse as he is riding in the trailer. The wiring of the trailer will come later, but so far I am happy. I am going to finalize the setup for the truck first and then try and tackle the trailer. Not sure where I am going to get power, maybe a runnning light or something. We will see.
