Talking I have the disease, getting a 72 F250

Well since I got my 79 F150 for christmas and joining this forum, it seems like I now have the Ford truck disease! I keep spotting trucks I hadn't seen before!
I had seen this one for a while, it's owned by one of my dads friends.
It's a 1972 F250 Camper Special, 2wd, 360, 4spd. He asked my dad what it would take to get it ready to send to scrap, but my dad knowing I'm now into these old fords, asked if we could come look at it and possibly buy it.
I kept asking my dad questions about it that he didn't know, like if it was a stick which my dad assumed wasn't the case. Looking at it today, I was happy to see it wasn't an auto
It's rough around the edges, only visible body rust was in one of the doors and surface rust in various areas, uses some oil, needs valve work, I'll have to pull the tanks to clean them out and replace rubber lines since it has sat for so long, and needs taillights (I didn't see them). It does turn over and the guy said it drove fine before he parked it. Hopefully I can find grilles, taillights, and rear reflectors for cheap somewhere.

This truck needs a bit less to get running again than my 79, and after getting it fixed up a little could be sold or traded for a different truck. I'd have fun shifting gears while driving to and from school My dad seems fairly interested in getting it as well, he doesn't want to see it go to scrap, which alot of neat old vehicles are being picked up and crushed around my area (even some late 60's ford trucks, nice broncos, and many other old cars)

I'd like to hear some opinions

Looks like a decent project. Even has PS and PB, that's a good start. Be sure to check the cab mounts. Passenger side body line doesn't line up in the pic so it might need mounts.

Thanks for the tip, I was wondering why the body lines weren't matched up!

A friend on facebook just told me he has a parts truck for this. Long bed camper special! If my dad and I can get this after getting the 72, I'll swap around parts, putting better stuff on the green truck. The bed looks straighter and has the cargo compartment, thought of swapping the beds. Then once I'm done with that I could put the white one on craigslist for $500 or something (then give the money to my dad as would need it more than I would) since it would still be a good project truck for someone!

Part of the reason the body lines on the faded green one might not line up may be due to the right front tire sitting in a hole, while the right rear looks like its sitting quite a bit higher........Its got cabover camper tie downs, and what looks like a nice rear bumper and hitch, and its "custom" trim.......the parts vehicle on the other hand is "ranger" trim, has what looks like a near perfect tailgate, nice bench seat, and the underbed tool box........Both trucks look pretty good!

Good catch on the flat tire. Get that thing on flat level ground with proper tire inflation and check the lines again. You will still want to check the cab mounts as they are a known rust spot.

I think the other tires were aired up, so the one flat tire would cause the truck to flex a bit.
Googling the trim levels, I think the Ranger is the better of the two trucks. I'm more interested in the Custom since it's a 4spd and is fairly complete. I don't want another huge project like a motor swap!

iggy, do you know anyone around here that would be interested in the white one when I'm done with it(if my dad and I get it)?

It all depends on what you switch around.......If a guy really needs a few "ranger" items to complete his truck, the white one might be a gold mine....I see the glove box door, the bed with tie down cleats, the underbed tool box.....A nearly cherry tailgate! that tailgate ALONE could be worth some decent money to the right guy!

Things I would look at swapping would be the complete beds, grille trim, take the aluminum wheels off for my 79, lower cab trim, foglights, and probably some other small stuff that I can't see in the photos. Don't have a use for the bench seat since I have a decent green one in my 77 parts truck.

Have to convince my dad that it would be good to get

Depending what your 77 has for spare parts, you may be able to get both the bumps running and driving. Figure out which one has the best base to start with and build that one first. Then take all the left over parts and put the second one together. They both look like the bodies are worth saving.

The 77 is pretty stripped other than some small suspension and small things. Don't have a motor and trans to stick in the white 70, and my dad says he doesn't have the money to buy it either. I'll see what my friend wants for just the tailgate and taillights since those are the two main things I'm after!

My dad talked to him the other day, told him that we would give him $300. He said that it wasn't good enough, and told my dad $250
My dad also found a property with a whole bunch of 70s and older ford trucks that a guy and his son had been collecting/working on. He told my dad we could come out and look when my dad is off work! Might be able to get some parts!

I've put a bunch of stuff on craigslist to try and help pay for the truck and help my dad out
