Which Years of Tailgates will fit my truck?
Hi....
I have a 1998 F-150 Super Cab XLT. It got rear-ended the other day with the tailgate down.
Guess what...I need a new tailgate. There's not much other damage to the rear of the vehicle.
Question: Which years of tailgate will fit?
I am assuming 1997-2003.....but I have read here that the 2008-2010 tailgates can be used by simply swapping out the drivers side hinge?

I'm posting here because in that thread he talks about 1999-2007. Are tailgates all interchangeable from 1998-2007....or is it 1998-2003?
I'd appreciate knowing what (if any) differences there are between all the years. I realize that the 2008-2010 tailgates have a torsion spring in them. That would be nice to have.

I don't have any direct experience, but here is a thread on the superduty tailgates. I doubt the newer 150 tailgates would swap though. Super Duty Tailgate - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans
