metal heater hose under intake: replacement question
I had a thread on my navigator leaking, and it turns out it was exactly as some of you diagnosed, the hose running under the intake.
My question is, should I buy another metal one, or just use some regular heater house in its place? What would the drawbacks be of using rubber vs metal? Could it cause any future problems down the line. That house costs a pretty penny, and if it's unnecessary, then I'd love to save that cash.
Thanks in advance
The rubber hose can lose it's pliability and develop cracks as a result of the engine heat. If you wish to save money and use hose, you're better off running it above the upper intake instead of below it. That way it will not be directly exposed to the heat from the 8 cylinders area.
Thanks. I'll just buy the OE one. Next question, sir. The hoses that go from the heater core to the rear heater. I know one comes from the heater core, splits to the water pump and goes to the back of the truck. The other comes from the heater core, goes to the rear like the other, but where behind the.block does the other end of the "t" go? I have a broken metal pipe, about 4" long connected to it, and no idea where it broke from.
