I was talking with a friend today while he was checking out my 56. The discussion turned to fuel systems and he asked what pump I was going with. I told him I probably would go with a small external like the offerings from Holley , Jegs and Summit. He suggested a 255lphh INTANK pump to cut down on noise. I understand most internal pumps are designed for EFI engines and it would have to be regulated down to work with my carb setup
Has anyone here used such a pump?
Comments and or discussion or opinions welcome.
What say you?
Absolutely no reason to use an in-tank pump. Noise? Are you going to be running glasspaks? Headers? Personally I find it comforting to be able to hear the small amount of noise my pump makes, assures me that it's working. Once the engine starts, I can't hear it.
Hey Don,
We've got an external fuel pump. You can hear it pumping away before you start the engine - after that - Are you kidding? You can't hear a thing...
We have our pump on a separate toggle switch under the dash as well just for a little added security. If you don't hear the pump running before - you know you forgot to turn it back on.
I LIKE the idea of a seperate switch for added security!
I'm just gonna do the external thing..prob going to place order this morning.
Thanks for the input guys.
