just reading in the tech folder on 02 sensors and I remembered that the Truck had a Thermostat replaced But the Coolant temp gauge Still Always Read Barely warm
it may have Bad Temp sender for coolant
Is there a way to test it??
And if the Temp sender was Bad it may Not Achieve Closed Loop Operation from what Im getting out the Tech Folder. So Over Time would it Basicaly Ruin the 02 Sensors pluging them up to where they wont read correct???
Not sure about your year truck, but most Ford motors do have 2 separate sensors that measure engine temp:
1. The "engine coolant temperature sensor" (ECT) is used by the PCM to assist in engine management and control. This is the sensor you see in the link I posted and the one that can cause a DTC when it's not functioning correctly. Usually has two-wires.
2. The "temperature sending switch" is the other sensor. Its sole purpose is to send a signal to instrument panel temp. gauge. It has nothing to do with engine management and control. Usually has a single wire.
