seeking auto transport outfit...

Ok, so I approached like 15 different transport outfits online. They were on me like bees. Averaged between 600 to 1000 bucks from LI to North FL. Can anyone suggest that one outfit might be preferable to another??

I made the mistake of filling out one of those transport requests online a few years ago, and I must of got 30 phone calls and emails. I ended up choosing a smaller outfit, that hauls trailers (boat, campers, utility, etc), so they used a flatbed semi, not a car transport. This way I didn't have to worry about my truck not fitting on a typical car transport trailer, since it has a grain box.. They also had a winch onboard, just in case there was an issue (which we ended up using to unload since the battery gave up on the trip).

Cost me $840 to haul 950 miles.

from the woods....

Thanks redbison00, my dad has the registration in his name now. I'm driving up there nxt week to get the truck ready, which entails dragging it out of the woods and maybe trying to start it. It's basically 100 dollars more if it wont run and has to be winched aboard. that's probably better than someone I don't know trying to start and drive it, in my absence, aboard the transport truck.
I have re-written 10 transport outfits to see if their quotes from mid June were still honorable. Looking for an inside track into this industry, but that's not going so well. Been reading Transport Reviews and have it narrowed down to a handful of outfits now. Will now more nxt week when I see this truck for just the 2nd time ever. Kinda excited about the whole adventure(except the driving from FL to LI).
Thanks for chiming in redbison00!!

I used a uhaul car dolly to transport my truck from WI to ND using a chevy colorado. Just had to fill the rear end with lube and pull driveshaft and put 2 decent tires on the back and off I went. rental on tow dolly was like 550. just another option for you.

I bought a car trailer 1100.00 with electric brakes all wheels and a 12,000 LB winch from HF on sale right now for 299.99 and towed it with a GMC Canyon had to put a brake controller and 7 way plug on another 100.00

yes, but I only own a Tacoma and I don't have a lot of extra cash to lay out. I found a broker to post my 'load' on a national transport loading list....
Thanks for y'alls suggestions though!!!

Check out the H.A.M.B. site. Several good haulers available. Ben D is one that comes to mind but there are others as well. Real car guys.

Also seen a guy post on a regular basis on the AACA forum. Mom & Pop type guy that appears to stay busy. Good luck. Let's see some pics once you get it home.
