My freind John's father bought a 95 f-450 powerstroke and he also bought a car trailer that can haul 3 cars, he is hopeing to get a buisness started with this towing cars, but he dosent know where to get the clients to hire him, any ideas on where he could go to get hired or where he could get a start ?
He bought the truck to tow his boat, and he started sort of thinking he should make some money with the truck because he has lots of time on his hands so he picked up a 3 car trailer for 2k and wanted to start up a buisness with it, he is like 65 and just starting up a buisness and wanting to pass it down to my freind john , i sort of thought as long as it makes the old man happy go for it ! But he cant run a buisness unless he has buisness.
If he's in Florida contact some travel agents or post in the local paper for hauling snowbird's Buicks from Florida back to there home state's. Many cotton tops here go to Florida for the winter but don't want to drive so they hire someone to trailer the car down while they fly.
If he wants to stay local go to a car auction and put out a word for hire to the local bidders.
If he's going to do it as a business he will need all kinds of DOT licenses, permits and insurance. Once he has all of that he can hook up with a website like uship.com to bid against other haulers for loads.
Put an ad into craigslist. He can put it in several locations and see what kind of business he drums up. If he determines that there is enough business to justify additional expense then he can worry about setting the business up legit, extra advertising, more equipment.
This is just my 2 cents and it is a little bit of an unorthodox way to start a business but getting the government and insurance companies involved before you have a steady income stream will kill him before he gets off the ground. I speak from experience on this one.
He could probably get away with towing 3-5 cars a month without attracting any attention from anyone, if his business gets more than that then he should legitimize the business and run with it.

Excuse me but NO!
Read the craigslist terms of use.
If he is going to be doing this as a business, he should be putting ads ONLY in the services section on craigslist.
Also, my main point, DO NOT post in multiple categories, or several locations. That is clearly against the terms of use and pisses off people who like the local, personal format of craigslist. This is a good way to get flagged all the time.
well, i talked to him today and he just wanted to stay local he is going to a aution house this weekend to see if he can get any buisness and awhtx
thanks for that website i will tell him about that .

Obviously I meant to post it in the services section and if he is trying to drum up statewide business then what is the harm in putting an ad in the keys, miami, panhandle and jxnville? It is not like he is making multiple postings in the same area.<!-- / message -->
I really dont see a problem with that, i see pepole do it all the time for welding and towing buisnesses all the time and their post dont get flaged down. I think it is a pretty good idea .
It dosent hurt to try to get a buisness like that going he had the truck anyway and if it didn't work he could sell the trailer for more than he bought it for because he fixed it up real nice , so no harm no foul only gain !

Just because people do it, doesn't mean its right. How many people do you see run red lights and go 80+ on the highway? Does that mean I can do it too because they all do it?
My point is read the terms of use and abide by them. Posting in multiple cities is against craigslist policy, I don't know if its the same in the services section, but its really annoying to see the same crap over and over and over again in the for sale sections, and its frequently ******s with businesses trying to get free advertising.
Personally, I flag every ad I see that looks commercial. If I wanted to see ads for businesses, I'd be looking in the yellow pages, or the classifieds in the paper. All I want to see is people selling stuff on craigslist because thats what its for.
