A friend of mine has an 06 expedition. The A/C is not working. Today he went to a mechanic and located a leak in the lines. I have not looked at it yet, but what he described is the hose that runs from the condensor out front back to the compressor is leaking. He said there is a block that both hoses go into, then the hoses come out the other side and continue on to the compressor. He said it is leaking at that block.
His mechanic told him he needed to replace the lines at a cost of $250 for parts plus labor.
My question is, shouldn't there be an O-ring set or gasket set on this hose connector? Where can I find a diagram of this, either repair manual or parts diagram?
This friend is the kind of guy that believes that the A/C must be serviced by a mechanic, and is ready to pay hundreds of dollars to get it fixed. I think we should be able to fix it ourselves, with the exception of having a shop vacuum the system.
Any ideas on parts or a diagram or both?
Thanks!
Hello, My 06 Expy EB blew out the seals or the hose right at the compressor. In order for me to be sure what happened there I will need to remove the compressor. I know it blew in there because the same day my ac stopped working I crawled under the truck just to see the messy oily fluorescent green stuff coming from there. I sure know every time you have your system leaked out like that you will need to replace the receiver dryer. Since I am already doing all of that I will also replace the expansion valve. the site below is pretty reasonable , and they do have an O ring seal kit . Has anybody tackled removing the a/c compressor on the 06/07 expedition ? I know it will be a hec of a job , there is not much room down there... Oh well I got to get it fixed....
