1996 Utilimaster Step van on ford chassis.

Considering possible purchase. This baby is on an econoline chassis. Has the much heralded 4.9 300 inline 6 engine, only 99,000 miles. Short wheel based rig..box appears to be about 10ft? Have not driven yet. Considering maybe conversion to camper rig. Anyone ever owned one? Converted one? Any info appreciated before I get myself in over my head with a "project"

Great camping van, almost a Class A RV. But on the freeway you'll be screaming for your life.....@ 55mph

Yeah that configuration sounds like it was meant for a small distributing company sorta thing, nothing more than city street driving door-to-door delivering small things. A great box for the camper part, poor vehicle for getting from Point A to Point B.
