Just found out that the sending unit seal on my VW gas tank is no good. I filled the tank yesterday and gas was pooling up on top where the wires connect. I'll still see about driving it there but I definitely want a window down. I have a feeling that was the cause of my headache yesterday...

Get some Permatex Form-A-Gasket® No. 2. Sealant.
Put one on both sides of the gasket. The link is for the PDF.

The drive home was alright, the bug wandered a bit more than the drive up there. I also found out I have a headlight out.
I checked at that book store but they don't have any of the John Muir books. They said they are quite collectable and don't stay in the store long. but there is one on capitol hill that is going out of business and their computer record shows they have one in stock. I was going to give them a call on Monday when they are open and find out. It's a bit of a drive but it might be worth it.
Also, after I got off the freeway the bug seemed to have a real hard time running. The idle was super low and when I would start going from a stop it would chug real bad like it was dieing until it got up to speed. If it gave it more gas before letting the clutch out it was fine but that cause a ton of slipage and wasn't fun. More issues to investigate though.
