While looking for easy fixes I noticed my ipc sensor was soaked in oil. The truck was running fine and still is after replacing the sensor with a new one.
I'm just curious if i should have noticed anything from replacing it?
Does the pig tail need replacing just if it looks bad?
lastly, the purple rubber protector boot that is on the pig tail side connector fell off and is no where to be seen. Should this be replaced and where can I get a new one?
Whoops, lastly #2. Should I put some sort of dielectric grease on the connectors? I have never used that kind of product before but seem to run into it quite a bit on this forum.
Yes you need that little purple washer. It helps keep the plug stabilized. You might start getting some funny symptoms as the plug wiggles around over bumps and such. Your best bet for replacement is probably just to get a pigtail and use the one off it. Your local parts store should be able to get you a pigtail.
Dielectric grease won't hurt, but it's not required. If you like to wash your engine a lot, then it's probably a good idea though.
