Yesterday I had my 1961 F100 out for a little ride to meet a friend for lunch. When I started my truck to drive back home, the fan belt squeeled for a minute and then stopped. It had never done that before but I didn't think too much of it. When I parked it I noticed a puddle forming under the front end. Antifreeze. I started by checking the radiator hoses and when I grabbed the upper hose a little antifreeze squirted from a seam in the radiator near the top next to the cap.
Finally, I'll get to the questions. I believe this is the original radiator and I don't know if I should check on repairing it or if I should just replace it. If I should replace where would be my best option for a new radiator?
If its what i think it is you can probably solder it. I have never done it, but apparently the trick is to get as small of a torch as you can with some very thin solder. If you use a regular size torch you will melt the solder that is already on there and you will have yourself a mess.
If you are considering replacing the whole thing, I would try soldering it first. Or you could take it to a repair shop and have them do it.
